10 Great Metal Collaborations That Worked

Storm CorrosionStormCorrosion_05580_HR

While this isn’t the first time Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson and Opeth’s Mikael Akerfeldt have worked together, this was the first full album by the duo. The result was not as expected. They pair instead released a six-track album of dark, sad, beautiful music. it would have been interesting to hear the band while Mike Portnoy was still in the fold, but the result was still captivating. As much as I loved the self-titled release, and know that it made sense in the context of Opeth’s Heritage and Wilson’s Grace For Drowning, I can’t help but hope the follow-up (if there will be one) is a little closer Fear of a Blank Planet and/or Ghost Riveries than it’s predecessor.
