10 Great Metal Collaborations That Worked

Fantomasfantomas

The result of combining members of Faith No More, Melvins, Mr Bungle, and Slayer into one band was bound to be an interesting combination to say the least. When Fantomas eventually revealed itself, it was oddly still surprising how much of an organized clusterfuck the band is. Mike Patton, Dave Lombardo, Buzz Osbourne, and Trevor Dunn together created the soundtrack to a comic book, a tribute to the month of April through cartoon-like noises, a covers album of horror movie themes, and the soundtrack to a surgery. Of course, they did, right? The status of the band is a little unknown as of now. Lombardo isn’t in Slayer anymore, so he might have the time to do it these days. The Faith No More reunion is apparently done, but Patton has been getting work doing movie and video game soundtracks, so he’s a little up in the air. Dunn is always playing on John Zorn albums, and there is bound to be one soon knowing his output.  Melvins are ALWAYS fucking touring, so Osbourne seems like the busiest of the bunch. Having said all that, it seems more possible now than it has been for a while.
