5 Metal Videos to Get You In The Halloween Spirit

GWAR-HALLOWEEN

The air becomes crisper, the nights grow longer, and everything becomes pumpkin flavored (whether or not they should be). Halloween draws near! Here are five thrilling metal music videos to close out this year’s spooky season.

1. "Thriller" – Metal Cover by Lauren Babic, Cody Johnstone & Brett Seaton

Let’s begin with this djenty rendition of Michael Jackson’s timeless “Thriller” by vocalist Lauren Babic. Wait until the end for a blood-curdling performance of the late Vincent Price’s iconic monologue, set to a wonderfully dissonant breakdown.

2. "Ghostbusters" – Live Metal Rendition by Frog Leap Studios

The pandemic sadly drags on here in the United States, and metal fans everywhere are shivering with acute mosh pit withdrawal. Replenish your soul with Leo Moracchioli’s live metal cover of the Ghostbusters theme. They’ve even kept the catchy trumpet parts from the original, and it actually works quite well.

3. Avenged Sevenfold's "A Little Piece of Heaven" in 33 Styles

YouTuber Joey Izzo, or Ten Second Songs has achieved viral success several times by singing rock and metal songs in the styles of dozens of bands per video. This cover of Avenged Sevenfold’s ghoulish tune “A Little Piece of Heaven” in 33 styles is no different.

4. Ice Nine Kills – "Stabbing In The Dark" (Live)

Boston metalcore group Ice Nine Kills is probably best known for their horror movie-inspired lyrics and music videos. With this live performance video of “Stabbing In The Dark,” inspired by the classic John Carpenter film Halloween, you can pretend you’re back in your happy place next to the stage at a metal concert.

5. "This Is Halloween" – Deathcore Version by Jared Dines

Finally, what song better captures the Halloween spirit than “This Is Halloween” from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas? Jared Dines made it even spookier by turning it into a deathcore banger.

Bonus: GWAR go trick or treating.

A classic clip of GWAR going trick or treating in the suburbs, before the world ended. Don't forget, GWAR is having a very special 30th anniversary performance of Scumdogs of the Universe tonight. Tickets here.

Sure, with everyone cooped up in their homes, this year’s Halloween might suck pretty hard. But why not put on a little Halloween metal concert for yourself? Your neighbors too, while you’re at it.
