Dryden Mitchell

Alien Ant Farm vocalist Dryden Mitchell has been charged with battery after allegedly taking a fan's hand during a show and moving it toward his crotch during the band's cover of Michael Jackson's of "Smooth Criminal."

The incident happened at a show on October 29 in Fort Lauderdale, FL around the 2:48 mark of the below video. The fan, who has been identified as a 45-year-old Miami man, reaches out to Mitchell, who takes his hand, holds it for a second, and then appears to move it right on up.

The man filed a report against Mitchell on November 15 with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and a first-degree misdemeanor charge against Mitchell was officially handed down by the Broward State Attorney's Office on December 30. Mitchell has not yet been booked for the charge.

"[The fan] said he had his fist in the air and was trying to get a picture with Mitchell," reads a portion of the police report obtained by The Daily Mail. "[He] advised that Mitchell grabbed his fist while it was in the air and pulled the fist into his private area (genital area) against his pants. [He] stated he immediately pulled his hand away at that point.

"[The fan] stated the reason for the delay in making a police report was because the incident was not sitting well with him. [He] did not feel this was proper behavior to do in front of all the concertgoers and also stated there were kids in the crowd as well. [The fan] advised he wanted to report the incident to police."
