Carach Angren is back with their first new record in three years Franckensteina Strataemontanus, and it just might be their best in a while. At least that's what I'm guessing based off their new song "Monster." The band eschews their usual extreme metal tendencies for a much creepier, slower vibe that really works well for them.
Following the mythos of the “real” Dr. Frankenstein, Johann Conrad Dippel, who served as the inspiration for the famed novel by Mary Shelley, Carach Angren’s 'Franckensteina Strataemontanus' delivers an bombastic symphonic cacophony of necromancy and mad science. Interwoven with haunting keyboards, majestic orchestrations, and a perfect balance of melodic brutality, the new album serves as the most theatrical offering from the horror metal masters to date.
