David Lee Roth released a new track earlier this week, and he says it's an homage to his late bandmate, Eddie Van Halen. Van Halen tragically passed away last month at 65 years old, after a long battle with throat cancer.

The track is titled, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill,” a cheeky reference to the infamous Sunset Strip bar in Los Angeles where many a rock star have hung out.

John 5 plays on the track. John got his big break playing with Roth on his 1998 solo album, so the two have remained in contact. According to MetalSucks, this was recorded in 2014, and there is an entire album's worth of unreleased material from those sessions.

Roth offered a short message when announcing the song "“Hey Ed, I’m gonna miss ya, See you on the other side..”

Remember the greatness of Eddie Van Halen by revisiting the band's final show on October 4, 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA and all the other tributes we've been posting in recent weeks.
