Human Impact – the band featuring Chris Spencer (Unsane), Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop), Eric Cooper (Made Out of Babies, Bad Powers), and Jon Syverson (Daughters) – is now streaming their relentless new single "Hold On". Clocking in at over six minutes of nothing of pummeling riffs, you might need to lie down after this one.
"'Hold On' is an expression of resistance in the face of a system that's using convenience and expediency to pry its way into a position of control," said Spencer of the single.
Human Impact will release their new record Gone Dark on October 4. Gone Dark was recorded by Andrew Schneider (Ken Mode, Cave In) in Austin's Cedar Creek Studio alongside Spencer and Coleman. Gone Dark was mixed by Schneider and mastered by Carl Saff. Pre-orders are available here.
On the album itself, Spencer offered: "It's more of a band instead of me and Jim writing stuff and bringing it in. We were all looking to go with something more raw and aggressive than the previous releases. There was a real desire to capture more of what the live performances had been like.
"With this one, we had plenty of time to develop a full, cohesive album joining songs together with interstitial pieces more like a live performance would be. With Gone Dark we have arrived at a place where we fully understand who we are as a band, so it's a bit more focused and relentless."
