When we got the call from Glory or Death Records that the mighty Judas Priest would be the subject of their upcoming Bow to Your Masters Volume III compilation, we said hell yes.
A more than correct reaction to the news that sixteen bands would be pouring through Judas Priest's five-decade long discography to find just the right Priest song to cover for the compilation due out in early November. Previous to Priest, Glory or Death Records put out two other compilations in the Bow to Your Masters series, the first featuring bands taking on Deep Purple and the second, and my personal favorite so far, featuring Thin Lizzy. But taking on Judas Priest? Man, you better make a big smash and go straight for infinity with that quest. And so far, we've heard just that kind of effort from Kyle Shutt (formerly The Sword) and his cover of "Electric Eye," (from 1982's Screaming for Vengance), the first single from Bow to Your Masters Volume III: Judas Priest. For his cover of "Electric Eye" Kyle played every instrument and also provided the vocals for the jam.
Pre-Orders for the gatefold album pressed in transparent red, opaque dark gray and white vinyl are going on right now are set to ship out by mid-November over at Glory or Death Records Bandcamp. Digital downloads are only $6.66 and it gets you Kyle's cover of "Electric Eye" immediately and the rest of the tracks when the album drops next month. Check out the animated video for Shutt's "Electric Eye" below.
Yesterday, The Sword frontman J.D. Cronise announced The Sword were breaking up, thanking his bandmates and fans who have supported the band through the decades. You can read more about the end of The Sword here.
