The metal word was in shock when, after canceling their US tour, we learned Behemoth frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski had been diagnosed with leukemia. Initial reports had led us to believe that it was too late for treatment such as chemotherapy, but those have proven to be false. Bassist Orion recently spoke with Focus on Metal" and issued an update on his ill bandmate:
"[Nergal] remains in the hospital. He's going through chemotherapy now. And they're planning a bone-marrow transplant, possibly this year. He's doing fine. His attitude is just winning everything. He's with fighting the illness and we're all sure that he's going to be fine."
It's good to hear the band is in positive spirits and planning on moving along as if everything will be fine. If you want to do your part to help Nergal and others with leukemia, get more info here.
Finally, if you need a quick lift of your spirits, another viewing of the band's awesome new video, "Alas, The Lord Is Upon Me" can't hurt.
