The Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, OH, the club where "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot on stage while performing with Damageplan, has been demolished. The land where the club previously stood is set to become 180 affordable apartment units. The affordable housing development will consist of three- and four-story buildings providing one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments.
Abbott, Damageplan head of security Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, nightclub employee Erin Halk, and fan Nathan Bray, were all killed by gunman Nathan Gale during a December 8, 2004 show at the club. The property was sold for $1.3 million and the city plans to contribute a total of $4.35 million to the project over the next two years. You can watch a few videos of the club's final days (and now empty lot) below.
