Happy Birthday Slash! One of our favorite rock icons turns 47 today, as he also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Guns N' Roses seminal record Appetite for Destruction this weekend. The Guns N' Roses debut was undeniably a kick-ass record that moved cheesy fashion glam into the realms of legit song writing. With nine of the twelve tracks becoming huge hit singles, it's hard to imagine there will ever be another hard rock band so iconic in today's music climate. In fact I often tell people Slash might be the last real rockstar we'll ever have in this world!
Through all the feuds, line up changes, rehab visits, relaunches, solo records, bad releases, and attempts at reclaiming the throne, Appetite for Destruction still holds a very special place with most of us. So we'd like to wish Saul "Slash" Hudson a very happy birthday, and a congratulations to the original line up of Guns N' Roses for their contribution in what is probably the biggest selling gateway record in metal history.
I'll leave this post with a question often asked: Where were you when you first saw "Welcome To The Jungle"?
