A few years ago, we created an entire category for all the insane shit Danzig says. Today, we're excited (actually, a bit disappointed honestly) to file another report into that category.
Danzig's inaugural Blackest of the Black festival went off without a hitch this past weekend. No photographers were harmed. Danzig did spent some time doing press and some political issues came up. Danzig, who previously compared democrats to fascists, considers himself a moderate. For example, he's for keeping abortion legal, but… well, let's have him explain it.
“I might be conservative on some issues, and some issues I’m really liberal. I’m pro-abortion and I’m pro- Planned Parenthood. But I don’t think Planned Parenthood should be selling baby parts like a chop shop in Brooklyn, OK?”
Well, good news Glenn. They don't. The idea that Planned Parenthood sells aborted fetuses came from a doctored video that was proven to be false. On multiple occassions, I've heard Danzig say he's "into conspiracy theories," (most recently on Chris Jericho's podcast) but it's clear he doesn't take the time to investigate if said conspiracies are actually true.
Danzig, the moderate, also defended US Preisdent Donald Trump's proposed Muslim travel ban, which would not allow anybody travelling from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US. This ban has been knocked down by not one, not two, but three federal judges for being unconstitutional, but Danzig knows better:
“It’s really not a travel ban,” he said. “When you walk into the country, we want to see who you are and what you’re doing.
“Well, when I go to every country right now, they look at me and they see whether I can come in or not,” he continued. “And I’ve been turned away from Canada and other places before.
“Where’s my protest? Where’s my parade?”
The problem here is Danzig is assuming these people are just walking into the country, when there is already a stringent visa process in place. These people are being denied entry even after their visas were approved. Additionally, Danzig comparing being denied entry into Canada (likely due to not clearing his merchandising, as many other bands have had this issue) to a refugee being denied entry into a country because of their religion seems like an apt comparison.
Then again, this is the same guy that got in a feud with his neighbors because he (Danzig) wouldn't remove some bricks off his lawn. The same guy who said he would've played Wolverine "less gay" than Hugh Jackman. The same guy who wouldn't go on stage without some French Onion soup. So yea, he's made some great judgment calls in the past.
