There is so much to love about the artwork to the new Yngwie Malmsteen album, Spellbound, that I don't even know where to begin.
First, the shot of Yngwie is just stellar. I'd like to think that there was a meeting where Yngwie was taken to a table where there were 20 similar shots and he had to pick the best one. This meeting probably took hours.
Then, the thunder bolt hitting his guitar, or perhaps emanating from his guitar, as if to say, Yngwie's riffs control the weather.
And then, all the natural disasters happening around Yngwie, because this world is not ready for more of his shred.
And finally, outer space in the lower third of the design, with the type set "Spellbound" in authoritative serif font, as if to say, this music is too much for this planet, so it must be suited for other galaxies.
Yngwie, you've done it again. The album is out December 5th. Maybe he'll make another appearance on Jimmy Fallon's show to commemorate its release.
