As with our podcast Squared Circle Pit, we are all about the intersection of heavy metal and professional wrestling – and no wrestler is more central in that venn diagram than WWE superstar, Chris Jericho.
Jericho's podcast, Talk is Jericho, is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to, and not just when he has wrestlers on. He frequently has metal musicians like Avenged Sevenfold and just recently, Lars Ulrich of Metallica, and they have great conversations all around. But this most recent episode, is a standout.
Jericho recorded a convo with Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn, two guys a generation or so younger than him and they all talked about the effect that metal and rock had on their lives. All of them share stories of their teenage journeys – you learn about how Jericho got into Metallica in 80s, and how Zayn got into them in the early 90s and how Rollins enjoyed them in the late 90s. They talk about their first concerts, with Rollins giving Shadows Fall a big shout out and have a discussion about going into the pit with their level of celebrity. If you're a wrestling fan and a metalhead, I highly recommend checking this out.
