Now that Metallica have completed their $20 million 3D movie, Through The Never, they have to go out and sell it to distributors. Through The Never will be released on Sept. 27th on every IMAX screen in the country and then shortly thereafter, nationwide. As for international markets, Lars was at the prestigious Cannes film festival to try to rack up some international interest for the movie and in the process has been doing press, revealing more tidbits about the movie.
There are two main points I took away from Lars' interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
- Whereas previous concert films had the viewer looking in from the outside, this movie will try to have the viewer looking out from on the stage. Lars said that he wants viewers to feel what it's like to be up on stage in front of Metallica's fans.
- The weird narrative following around actor Dane DeHaan that will be in the movie will be occurring simultaneously to the concert. By the looks of the first production still, there will probably be some sort of riot scene.

Like I said previously, I am totally on-board for the movie. The band is putting a lot of money and resources behind it, and you have to think they are proud of the outcome. I'm excited to see what the movie looks like.
Will you be attending?
