The first week sales for Static-X's Project Regeneration have been released and they offer cause to celebrate. The album, which features Wayne Static's vocal lines, sold approximately 12,500 copies in pure sales. That's very good.
The band's previous release, Cult of Static, in 2009, sold 19,000 units. Wayne Static's 2011 solo album sold 5,000 copies in its first week. So all things considered, that's a big win for the band. It allowed the band to appear in the following chart positions:
- #48 Billboard Top 200
- #2 Current Hard Music Albums
- #2 Current Rock Albums
- #2 Indie Records
- #4 Billboard Top Albums
As MetalSucks jokingly put it, that's 11,900 more copies than the last Trapt album sold.
It's safe to assume the Static-X reunion isn't ending any time soon. The band played their first concert since the quarantine this past weekend in Wisconsin, where social distancing was in effect.
The band have been dealing with a war of words with former member, and convicted sex offender Tripp Eisen, who claimed that he wrote a good chunk of the new material, and is under-credited. Edsel Dope, believed to be the new frontman, slammed Eisen in response, saying "Wayne fucking hated you." In retort, Eisen tried to explain his past.
Two words: THANK YOU!
