The year is 1977. The Misfits put out their first-ever release, the Cough / Cool b/w She 7" via Blank Records. There are only 500 copies, and this is the only Misfits release to feature drummer Manny Martínez.

Fast forward to 2021. Someone buys this 7" on Discogs for a whopping $10,877 on Discogs. What's even crazier is that a handful of these have sold in years prior for a few thousand dollars each. Of course those were in varying conditions, but according to the listings none were absolutely abysmal. According to the seller we're talking about, the reason this one is priced so high is because it sounds good and the "Last copy on ebay sold for $10,877."

Some other metal records that made The Top 30 Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs in January 2021 article on Discogs included:

  • The classic Bathory self-titled album "yellow goat" print on Black Mark Production that sold for $3,000
  • A Motörhead self-titled record from Chiswick Records that sold for $2,396
  • And the Blood Music Emperor box set that sold for $1,600
