We want to send a big congratulations to The Black Dahlia Murder, as their new album, Verminous, is currently the fourth best selling album in the country.
Verminous has indeed charted at #4 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, which tracks purely album sales – as opposed to the more traditional Billboard Top 200, which also includes streams (1,000 streams is the equivalent of one unit). On the overall charts, with streaming taken into consideration, Verminous landed at #99.
The Black Dahlia Murder boys are in good company with Fiona Apple coming in at number one, Da Baby and number two and Upchurch at number 3, with The Weeknd trailing them at number five.
BDM are also the fourth top selling vinyl album of the week, in the company of Billie Eilish, Britney Spears, Mac Miller and Harry Styles.
MetalSucks reports the album sold less than the 2017 album, Nightbringers, which pushed 12,000 in its first week. Of course, there are factors to take into consideration – like no physical retail stores were open and the band was unable to tour to lead up to the record's release. Still, 7,800 units is pretty good in today's day and age. For comparison, 2015's Abysmal pushed 13,000 units, Everblack (2013) and Ritual (2011) each sold around 13,000 first week.
