OCD can be a truly difficult condition to live with. It has broken up countless relationships and driven some to insanity. It makes for the perfect subject matter for a thrash metal song! Michigan thrash metal squadron Tyrant unveil their own take on the illness with their new song, 'Poison The Well.'
It's a thoughtful and musically incisive take on a disease that has impacted far too many of our friends and family. As for the track itself – get ready for a thrashing good time. These guys clearly know how to write a hard hitting rager. Tyrant's high powered riffs, flashy solos and relentless rhythms make for a veritable sonic blast!
Frontman Philip Winters had this to say:
Lyrically, Poison the Well is inspired by the debilitating effects of OCD; living with intrusive and compulsive thoughts that dominate and contaminate the mind, essentially 'poisoning the well’, unable to escape a world of constant self doubt, uncertainty and hellish repetition. The music itself is obviously incredibly fast, intricate and 100% organic. We tracked this song at Marshland Studios in our hometown of Lansing. It was mixed and mastered by John Hehman of Bang Recording. Considering our release plan we have for the remainder of 2020, and with what’s currently going on in the world, we want to start taking control of the production and bring everything in house. Our plan is to release a new single/video every month or two throughout the year while really honing in on our songwriting skills. We want to be able to fully elaborate on ideas, take time with crafting great songs and put our best foot forward with every new single that we will be releasing for this year.
