Well this sucks.

Sum 41 has been talking about doing a new album titled Heaven x Hell – half heavy metal and half pop punk – for about a year now. The good news is that Sum 41 is still releasing those albums. The bad news is that Sum 41 is calling it quits after the album is released. Sum 41 will still play all their planned tour dates, as well as announce a final tour sometime in the future. The band's statement is as follows:

"Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first.

"Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we're looking forward to releasing our final album Heaven :x: Hell, along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. Details will be announced as soon as we have them.

"For now, we look forward to seeing all of you skumfuks on the road and are excited for what the future will bring for each of us. Thank you for the last 27 years of Sum 41."

And I know, some of y'all are gonna be in here complaining that "Sum 41 isn't metal." Which isn't entirely untrue, but Sum 41 has always been metal leaning (Chuck, Does This Look Infected?, and Order in Decline are all shining examples) and have cranked out some pretty sick covers over the years. So yeah, this sucks. Sum 41 was a great band that could play well and leaned into their metal roots masterfully over the years.
